project life 2014 // week forty five.

November 3 - November 9. Still chugging, and keeping up with the goal to finish out the year by the last week of January (while simultaneously starting 2015, might I add). #prayersforalessia. What went on this week: This week at work Hilary Duff and Sutton Lenore came in to talk about their new show, which we got to watch the pilot of, and that was really awesome. Over the weekend I got to see my babes for a night, and while I was so happy to see them, it was so hard to see how big Sky had gotten in just two weeks, and how much Max had changed in no time.About this spread: This week was another random collection of photos, but it was all fine. As I'm getting closer to the end of the 2014 book, I'm just trying to make sure that the photos and journaling reflect my week, rather than if every color was a good match.Details + interesting tidbits: I love this little corner on the right side of me and the kids from the Saturday night. I miss seeing them so much, and my spreads have seriously been lacking without pictures of them every week. The heart card was perfect for this as well, and broke up the photos nicely.Photo breakdown: phone photos: 8 // canon t3 photos: 1 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me, the self-timer, and shutter remotes.
Materials, supplies, and tools I used: PL core kits: seafoam core kit (striped card); midnight core kit (heart card), studio calico monthly kits: poet society (hello sticker, Q&A card); the underground (diamond sticker), design A pocket pages, elise joy calendar card, fiskars corner rounderfiskars paper trimmerstaz-on jet black inkhp everyday photo papersmash date stampzig writer for vellum marker in black (on photos), zig writer marker in black (on journal cards).

project life 2014 // week forty.

September 29 - October 5. Still chugging, and setting a goal to finish out the year by the last week of January 2015. #prayersforalessia. What went on this week: This was the week that I found out I got the BuzzFeed internship that I interviewed for, so it was a week of celebrating, but also a week of intense reality once it hit me that I would have to stop nannying in just two short weeks. Not that I had been taking Max for granted before, but I really wanted to make sure that every minute with him counted, and every minute with Sky as well. Another exciting thing that happened was that my best friend and I both won a set of two tickets to see The Script in NYC, and it was the first thing that either of us had ever won.About this spread: In terms of colors and stuff, this spread was completely all over the map between the pink everything in Skylar's photos, and the reds and blues in Max's, so I kept everything else black and white and neutral. Though it wouldn't really be a spread of mine if I didn't have some minty blue thrown in there.Details + interesting tidbits: I included the three photos of Max and I because we took about 40 that morning, and I knew that I wanted to pick a bunch to kind of capture who we are together. Photo breakdown: phone photos: 10 // canon t3 photos: 1 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me, the self-timer, and shutter remotes. (The two photos of Skylar were taken by her daddy).
Materials, supplies, and tools I used: PL core kits: seafoam core kit (week card, "true story" card, striped card); midnight core kit ("you are so very loved"), design A pocket pages, studio calico monthly kits: penny arcade (wood banners, right now sticker); poet society (wood September), elise joy calendar cardxyron create-a-stickerfiskars corner rounderfiskars paper trimmerstaz-on jet black inkhp everyday photo papersmash date stampzig writer for vellum marker in black (on photos), zig writer marker in black (on journal cards).

project life 2014 // week thirty two.

August 4 - August 10. I'm starting to crank out weeks of this at a time like a well-oiled machine, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty proud of myself. What went on this week: This Monday Max had a show at camp, which was literally the cutest thing I've ever seen. His bunk danced to "Do You Love Me?", and I honestly thought that he was going to get shy when he saw all of us sitting there cheering him on, but he did the whole thing, better than all of the other boys. And that's not just bias, he was the literal best. Wednesday I went to the One Direction concert in NJ with Meagan and Jackie, which was even better than the first time I saw them last summer because we could actually see them pretty close up. Over the weekend I went out to Long Beach to stay with an old friend from elementary school and her family at their beach house.About this spread: I was really happy with this spread because everything was all green and blue and matchy. Much improved from last week.Details + interesting tidbits: I put my monthly currentlies straight onto the calendar card, and used random blank ish cards to journal because I had a lot that I wanted to say besides the currentlies. Also, going back this far in time, it's hard to remember what was actually current because I know what the future up until now has in store, so I try not to get confused over what happened when.Photo breakdown: phone photos: 10 // canon t3 photos: 1 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me, the self-timer, and shutter remotes.
Materials, supplies, and tools I used: design A pocket pages, studio calico monthly kit: hello, hello (green to blue card, hello summertime card); sandlot (dotted green card); poet society (gold rub on music note), elise joy calendar card, fiskars corner rounderfiskars paper trimmerstaz-on jet black inkhp everyday photo papersmash date stampzig writer for vellum marker in black (on photos), zig writer marker in black (on journal cards).

June 16, 2014

project life 2014 // week twenty-three.

June 2 - June 8. Though October is my favorite month, June is looking pretty damn good so far. What went on this week: This week the weather was pretty good, which made for some great outdoor shots, some wardrobe change-ups (finally), and great play date options. Max didn't have school on Wednesday so we hung out with his friend and they took the most adorable photos together, I just had to include two of them. Watching them grow up together over the last year and a half has been so amazing, and these photos are really a great measure of how far they've come since those tiny 19-month-olds I met last year. On Saturday my best friend celebrated her college graduation and her 23rd birthday in one huge party, and prepping for that day was the majority of the weekend (I made those delicious looking chocolate PB cupcakes for the party, recipe here). Once the dust settled after the amazing party, we all decided on Sunday night to sit in a movie theater and cry our eyes out at The Fault in Our Stars. If you haven't seen it yet, do (but read it first).About this spread: I got my Hello, Hello kit in the mail this week, so I used it for this spread along with Office Hours. The photos were kind of all over the place in terms of colors and lighting (which is kind of what happens every week, but what can you do) so I tried my best to tie the cards together and leave things semi-simple. Sometimes I like just using a kit because it makes life easy and makes me actually use all of the awesome cards that I have but am "saving for another time". Details + interesting tidbits: I used a lot of that seafoam color again this week because of the NOW card and the interests date card from Hello, Hello for my monthly currentlies this month. I loved the interests date card from this month's kit. I've seen a million different versions of it, but have never actually had one in my possession, and I think if I can make my own it might replace the way I do my monthly currentlies (and Max's). I used the stars card from Office Hours because I've loved it since I received the kit but couldn't figure out a good time to use it. I figured pairing it with a star paperclip and my ticket stub from TFIOS movie was a great option though cheesily literal (cheesily is a word. Don't look to google for proof though).Photo breakdown: phone photos: 5 // canon t3 photos: 5 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me, the self-timer, and shutter remotes. Group photo on the bottom of the right page taken by a friend on his phone the size of my head.Materials, supplies, and tools I used: seafoam core kitdesign A pocket pages, studio calico hello, hello monthly kit (now and interests cards, week card, "7" washi sticker), studio calico office hours monthly kit (star card), less is more stamps, elise joy stamp, elise joy calendar card, gold star paperclip (similar), American Crafts metallic silver markerfiskars corner rounderfiskars paper trimmerstaz-on jet black inkhp everyday photo papersmash date stampzig writer for vellum marker in black (on photos), zig writer marker in black (on journal cards).

project life 2014 // week eighteen.

Dated: April 28 - May 4. May is a little backed up so far, but it's not feeling like a burden when catching up is fun to do.What I did this week: This was the first week of May, so Max has been super excited that he can say "my birthday is this month!" I wore shorts for the first time, which is always a monumentous occasion every year, and it wasn't an isolated incident, which is the best part. I drove to New Jersey for the weekend to meet up with three out of four of my college housemates, which was amazing and made me want to move out of my parent's house even more (have I ever mentioned that I want to move out of my parents house? Once? Ohhh, several times? Sorry).About this spread: I didn't have that many photos for this week, so a lot of photos from the same day with Max were thrown in, as well as a super grainy front iphone camera photo (hate those), because I needed to put some evidence of my awesome weekend trip. I've noticed that I haven't been pulling out my phone to take pictures as much, so in the present week (week 20), I'm trying a lot harder to remember to capture the little moments quickly and then get back to my day.Details + interesting tidbits: This was my first week using the Camelot kit from SC, and man, oh man, this kit is my spirit animal #allhailcamelot. We'r talking gold foil, great stamps, asterisk stickers in that seafoam green color I've been addicted to, and the cards are just ridiculously perfect. LOVE. I used a few of those items for this spread, and for my monthly currently cards, I used the hello stamp from the kit and then journaled as usual (see other uses of the beginning of the month currentlies here, here + here). Photo breakdown: phone photos: 9 // canon t3 photos: 2 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me, the self-timer, and shutter remotes.Materials, supplies, and tools I used: midnight core kitdesign A pocket pages, elise joy calendar card,  studio calico camelot monthly kit ("hello" and ">>>>" stamps, rainbow photo tag, week card + today journal card), sn@p! cardstock alphabet stickers, paper source & stampfiskars corner rounderfiskars paper trimmerstaz-on jet black inkhp everyday photo papersmash date stampzig writer for vellum marker in black (on photos), zig writer marker in black (on journal cards).

project life 2014 // week fourteen.

March 31 - April 5. Though it snowed on Monday, I think spring has officially sprung, so this week had a lot of outdoor photos (thank goodness). What I did this week: I did hot yoga three nights this week with my friend Katherine, and it reminded me how much I love it. Rich arrived on Saturday so I spent most of the week getting ahead on work and blogging so that I could be present with him while he was here. I ordered new stamps that will hopefully be the product that reopens my etsy shop, and I drank a lot of coffee (the two included photos of coffee are not an accurate representation of the amount of caffeine I ingested this week).About this spread: This was a pretty simple spread with just a few highlights of my week (obviously). It was a little hard choosing photos because it wasn't a very eventful week, which is why a lot of the photos are similar. That happens though, life can be wonderfully average sometimes, which is fine by me.Details + interesting tidbits: I knew that I had the transparency from last week to work with, plus a calendar card for April and the two journaling cards for Max's and my currentlies (see this concept in the first spreads for February + March), so there wasn't going to be any room for patterned or "just because" journaling cards. Since the cards I chose for Max + I were black and white, I chose a black and white date card as well, and the rest was just stamping and journaling on the photos, which I do before I even open my album. Photo breakdown: phone photos: 8 // canon t3 photos: 3 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me, the self-timer, and shutter remotes. (Photo of Max taken by his dad at his first day of peewee tee ball. I die.)

March 16, 2014

project life 2014 // week ten.

Dated: March 3 - March 9. Week ten was my birthday week, and documenting it was so fun.

What I did this week: I had off on Monday because Max had a party in school that his mom wanted to go to and spent the whole day with my friend Meagan at the gym and getting our nails done. I worked Friday as a result (working on Fridays is for animals, god bless all of you five-dayers out there), so was busy all week getting ready for a birthday party for my friend Kiersten and myself on Friday. Saturday I spent the beautiful sunny day at the gym and outside, then went to dinner with my parents and caught a train into the city for a night out to celebrate with my oldest girlfriends.
About this spread: I had so many photos for this week, but I knew that I wanted to add inserts that weren't photos already, so I just cut it down to some of the best ones and left it at that. I went back this week to using a lot more stamps, because they are for sure my favorite things to use, and because I liked last week's cohesiveness with the seafoam journal cards, I kept it uniform with the tan journal cards this week.
Details + interesting tidbits: (Above) A lot of detail went into this week's spread. To start, I did the same type of current documentation for me and Max, like I did for the first week of February. I used a calendar card this week because it was the first full week of March, and instead of journaling on it like I have the past two months, I stamped it and wrote "birthday month" on the side. I used a polaroid photo this week and clipped it to a 3"x 4" card like I usually do. (Below) The first insert I added was straight from my 25 things blog post, and because the 4" x 11" size I made it was a weird size for photos, I made it double sided by adding the text "25 things" to the back. I cut down a pocket page from my OLW album and sealed it with washi tape. The second insert was an envelope insert that I used to put a few of my birthday cards in. I added a grid card with stamping and text about birthdays to the front pocket of the envelope, and I love how you can see through it to the cards.
Photo breakdown: phone photos: 8 // canon t3 photos: 2 // polaroid photos: 1. Taken by me and the self-timer. Group photo on bottom right taken by a friend.Materials, supplies, and tools I usedseafoam core kitdesign A pocket pages, elise joy stamps, live love paper stamp, less is more "love" stamp, elise joy calendar card, two peas wood veneer "hello" card, two peas star paper clip (different colors), sn@p cardstock alphabet stickers, we r memory keepers 8.5"x 11" page protector, project life tall envelope, 3"x 4" grid cardsfiskars corner rounderfiskars paper trimmerstaz-on jet black inkhp everyday photo papersmash date stampzig writer for vellum marker in black (on photos), zig writer marker in black (for journaling).

February 16, 2014

project life // week six.

Dated: February 3 - February 9. This is the sixth week of project life and I'm still so happy to sit down and document the little things in life every week. What I did this week: Monday it snowed a ton so I had a day off and caught up on blogging and a few projects. I finally made a trip to the library to pick up my holds, I baked a huge batch of valentine's cookies, and planned a potentially awesome eurotrip at starbucks with my friend Jenna.About this spread: I kept the journaling cards all very simple because there was a lot of color going on with my photos this week. I used two "now" journal cards and did a Max edition and an Alessia edition next to pictures of us to kind of document where we are both at right now. Max changes so much every day, it will be nice to have things written down about him in the future. Thoughts, concerns + details: I used thickers to create the "let it snow. not." card because I'm sooooo over the snow and northeast winters. SO over it. Even though February technically started the last week I used a calendar card this week for the first full week. I used it to write a few things that were going on at the start of the month, which I think I'll continue doing in conjunction with recording the month's bests, like I did last week.Photo breakdown: phone photos: 10 // canon t3 photos: 1 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me and the self-timer.
