project life 2014 // week forty four.

October 27 - November 2. Still chugging, and keeping up with the goal to finish out the year by the last week of January (while simultaneously starting 2015, might I add). #prayersforalessia. What went on this week: This week started with a Monday morning interview with Amy Poehler, and continued to be awesome leading up to Halloween. I'm not normally super into Halloween, but I'd had my costume picked out since October of last year, so it was a long time coming and I was reeeeadddddyyy. My friends and I (ended up just being one friend because everyone was lame/busy/left their costume home/other excuses) dressed up as the Dharma Initiative from LOST and it was great. I was in a full khaki jumpsuit, didn't even need to pretend that I was trying to be a sexy nurse, and was so warm all night. Win, win, win.About this spread: This was another week with not a lot of photos, so I spread one out to be 12x4 and another one of me and my friend in our costumes as a 6x8. I also used a lot of journaling cards to make up for the lack of photos on the left side, and I think it looked kinda nice being all full of words.Details + interesting tidbits: I love the whole right side again this week, because everything is brown and white and even the journaling card matches, and then the left side was just a mish mosh of colors. I love working for BuzzFeed, but that bright yellow paper that is going to continue to be in the background of all of my work photos is really killin' my color scheme vibe.Photo breakdown: phone photos: 8 // canon t3 photos: 0 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me, the self-timer, and shutter remotes.
Materials, supplies, and tools I used: PL core kits: seafoam core kit ("currently" card); midnight core kit ("hello" bubble, week card); dreamy (Friday card), design A pocket pages, studio calico monthly kits: penny arcade (wood banner on Amy photo); hello, hello (wood numbers), elise joy stamps, less is more stampsxyron create-a-stickerfiskars corner rounderfiskars paper trimmerstaz-on jet black inkhp everyday photo papersmash date stampzig writer for vellum marker in black (on photos), zig writer marker in black (on journal cards).

project life 2014 // week thirty nine.

September 22 - September 28. Still chugging, and setting a goal to finish out the year by the last week of January 2015. #prayersforalessia. What went on this week: This week I had one of the cutest days of my life because of Skylar's newborn photoshoot. I finally met her on Monday, and then on Tuesday her parents and I took her to a friend's house, and she has a whole room set up for photographing children, with backdrops and props and everything. She was so amazing with Skylar, and the photos came out to die for. Max joined us after school for some big brother pictures, and my heart literally burst into a million pieces. He is a natural with babies and it's amazing. My week was basically taken over by Sky and her tiny cuteness, so that's most of what this spread was about.About this spread: Like I said, it was the Skylar show. I can't get enough of this tiny little lady and I can't believe how much I love her, so I wanted to make sure that this spread had photos and journaling that really captured those feelings. I used one of the professional photos to stretch across the top of the right page (THOSE LEG WARMERS CAN YOU EVEN?!), and it's my favorite thing to ever happen to this album. It's so beautiful and perfect. The rest of the right page was all from the Tuesday shoot, and then the left page had another from that, plus a couple of general photos of me, Max, and Sky.Details + interesting tidbits: I used a lot of my SC kit stuff in combination with the core kits, which again, is because everything is all organized and accessible. One of the stamps I used was the words "I love you more than all the stars", which I stamped over and over onto a 3x4 grid card.Photo breakdown: phone photos: 9 // canon t3 photos: 0 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me, the self-timer, and shutter remotes(The top right photo of Skylar was taken by Jamie of Handful of Magic).
Materials, supplies, and tools I used: PL core kits: midnight core kit (week card, "right now" card); dreamy core kit (Tuesday card, plain 3x4), design A pocket pages, studio calico monthly kits: penny arcade (wood veneer banner, "I love you more than all the stars" stamp); walden (<3 stamp), elise joy stampsless is more stamps, xyron create-a-stickerfiskars corner rounderfiskars paper trimmerstaz-on jet black inkhp everyday photo papersmash date stampzig writer for vellum marker in black (on photos), zig writer marker in black (on journal cards).

project life 2014 // week thirty five.

August 25 - August 31. Still chugging, and setting a goal to finish out the year on time (aka the whole year by the end of the first week of January. #prayersforalessia). What went on this week: This week Max and I had some really good time together. It was just us hanging out like old times, he didn't have camp, so we filled the days with baking, play dates, reading, and playing. It was still really nice out so we played on his friend's outdoor playset a couple of days, and he climbed a rock wall (left page, bottom row), which I cried over, because not too long ago, the little boy I knew would have took one look at that thing and ran away. I'm so proud of the little kid he is becoming, it's incredible to watch. On my own time I filmed my first youtube video, which honestly isn't that great at all, but it's something I considered (and still kind of am) doing as a side project, so I'm glad I did that first video just to take a look at what editing entails and such. Once I have my own space, it could possibly become a more frequent activity.About this spread: I had a lot of photos of Max this week, so I printed an extra 3x4 than I normally would, because I couldn't get rid of any of them. He's so smiley in all of them, and the photos of the playground just show how brave and daring he has become, which again, makes me feel so proud of him. I kept the cards neutral because there was a lot of color, especially greens and wood colors in the photos.Details + interesting tidbits: This was a monthly bests week, so I jotted down a few things that were going on in both mine and Max's life at the time. I also used one of my stamps to create a patterned card (left page, middle row, left slot) with ABM's cement colored ink to match the neutrals in the spread.Photo breakdown: phone photos: 9 // canon t3 photos: 3 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me, the self-timer, and shutter remotes.

project life 2014 // week twenty six.

June 23 - June 29. The project is finding new life and it's thriving. What went on this week: This week Max had off of school, so it was full of playdates and fun trips. I prepped for my trip to Europe whenever I could, and managed to get a third book finished for the month. I went barcrawling down by the sea with my friends on Saturday, and the weather was fantastic. On Sunday my best friend and I went to a One Republic concert, opened by American Authors, and one of my favorite bands, The Script.About this spread: This was another kind of "non-cohesie" spread for me. Sometimes I have those when my photos are just not at all similar and there are too many colors going on. In all honesty I probably should have gone with neutral cards like greys or kraft, but I went with the mustard yellow theme and figured, screw it.Details + interesting tidbits: I used a screenshot in this spread to show the weather in the five places in Europe I was travelling to the next week, and it was also a monthly bests week in terms of journaling. I left the wood veneer "June" from last week still floating in the empty pocket, and added some sequins to liven it up a bit.Photo breakdown: phone photos: 9 // canon t3 photos: 1 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me, the self-timer, and shutter remotes. Weather photo is an iPhone screenshot.
Materials, supplies, and tools I used: design A pocket pages, studio calico monthly kits: hello, hello (wood veneer June); sandlot (journaling cards + haaaay tag); poet society (sequins), less is more geotag stamp, fiskars corner rounderfiskars paper trimmerstaz-on jet black inkhp everyday photo papersmash date stampzig writer for vellum marker in black (on photos), zig writer marker in black (on journal cards).

project life 2014 // week twenty-two.

May 26 - June 1. The official month of summer has arrived, and this project continued to document how epic life is in the unofficial summer. What went on this week: This week I was home on Monday for Memorial Day and had a bagel and coffee at home with nothing to do the whole day (which is my favorite kind of day). I did a lot of photo taking for the blog and I started a new workout program called the Bikini Body Guide so that I could get myself motivated to workout again. Then on Tuesday I had to call out sick from work because I think a mixture of allergies and a virus took me out of the count for the next few days, so the rest of the photos were from two days at work and the weekend, which was spent celebrating one of my best friend's birthdays (recipe for that delicious looking pancake here, and book report here). On Friday Max was "Shabbat King" at his nursery school, which was so cute. I didn't know any of the prayers or anything, but hearing the kids sing in Hebrew was so freakin adorable, and Max loved that it was his turn to be the "King" and he got to do all of the little rituals before and after the prayers. The kids all loved it, and I thought it was just about the most adorable hour of my life.About this spread: Since I took a lot of photos on Monday, everything on the left page is from Monday, and the right page is the rest of the week. On weeks when I get myself together and take photos for this blog, I always have more photos taken on my canon t3, and I love those weeks so I really need to just start carrying it with me a little more so that the quality of those shots can be a more every day thing. This week was the last full week of may, so there's a "monthly bests" journaling card to highlight my favorite things of the month.Details + interesting tidbits: There was a lot of color in this spread again, like last week, but I decided because of some of the complimenting colors that I would do my favorite kind of spread, a seafoam (in color) spread, which happened to only use the seafoam edition for journaling cards, but camelot's monthly kit had such good embellishments in that color as well, so it all came together and I love the way it looks.Photo breakdown: phone photos: 7 // canon t3 photos: 4 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me, the self-timer, and shutter remotes.Materials, supplies, and tools I used: seafoam core kitdesign A pocket pages, studio calico camelot monthly kit (* stickers, banner on top right photo), less is more stamps, elise joy stamps, fiskars corner rounderfiskars paper trimmerstaz-on jet black inkhp everyday photo papersmash date stampzig writer for vellum marker in black (on photos), zig writer marker in black (on journal cards).

project life 2014 // week seventeen.

Dated: April 21 - April 27. Sometimes traveling and being busy makes this project frustrating, but I still love it and everything it stands for so much. What I did this week: Max was back at school on Wednesday so I was able to start catching up on all of my blogging and project life spreads. I went out to dinner with my girlfriends on Wednesday night for half price wine, then bowling with the same girls on Thursday night. I had off Thursday because Max and his family left for Florida for a long weekend. Friday I drove down to AC with my two best friends for one of their birthdays and stayed until Sunday morning.About this spread: I had trouble again deciding on journaling cards to use and whatnot (I need to get my crap together, or just stop buying cute papers and things that I want to use all at once and then get overwhelmed) but once I had everything the way I wanted it to, I found it easy to organize. I do the same layout pretty much every week (seven 4x6 photos & four 3x4 photos in every other slot), so it's really a routine now that just depends on the color scheme or theme that I want my journaling cards to follow. In this week's case it was grey, black + white because my photos had a lot of reds and other colors to them. I kind of love how the right side of this spread ended up having matching photos all three rows (shoes, outfits with friends, and coffee), because it's just so typical of my camera roll to look like that.Details + interesting tidbits: For the first time since I started this project I used a foldover journal card because I wanted to write most of what happened in AC with my friends. I used an adhesive roller to attach a tab to my photo, and then put the photo down directly onto the card itself. I wrote the story on the inside of the card, and now it's a little pull out with the photo showing, which I love the look of (see photos below). Because it was the last full week of the month I did April's bests (see March, February, + January bests on their respective spreads). I used a ton of stamps this week to spruce things up a bit, and also, I'm going to add an insert of my 2x2 photos of 30 days of: coffee, in the same style as my selfie photos insert.Photo breakdown: phone photos: 10 // canon t3 photos: 1 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me, the self-timer, and shutter remotes.
Materials, supplies, and tools I useddesign A pocket pages, seafoam core kitstudio calico office hours monthly kit (tab, captured wood piece, journal cards), Amy Tangerine plus one paper pack (date card, feather card), less is more stamps, elise joy stamp, tiny attacher, tombow adhesive rollerfiskars corner rounderfiskars paper trimmerstaz-on jet black inkhp everyday photo papersmash date stampzig writer for vellum marker in black (on photos), zig writer marker in black (on journal cards).

project life 2014 // week thirteen.

Dated: March 24 - March 30. Week thirteen had a lot of little big moments, and I loved documenting it.What I did this week: This week I was slammed by spring allergies even though the weather outside was cold and gray for the whole week. I took a break from blogging during the week to recover a bit, so most of my action was with Max. He had his first play date with a friend from school that he loves, did a million and one funny things, learned the days of the week, and I swear he grew an inch a day. I had a productive weekend taking photos for a bunch of posts, saw Divergent in theaters again with my parents and best friend, and went out with friends on Friday and Saturday night.About this spread: I had very colorful pictures this week, so I knew that I was either going to go really neutral with the journal cards or I would try to match the color a little bit. It turns out I still had a bunch of cards from office hours that looked good paired with my photos, so I went for crazy color. I love the "at the moment" card next to the photo of makeup swatches from my ipsy bag, because the colors are so complimentary. The "play all day" card matched the colors in the carpet of the picture of Max and his friend playing, so it was perfect in both sentiment and coloring. Love when stuff like that happens.Details + interesting tidbits: I used a transparency card that I got as a 12x12 sheet from two peas in a bucket, and applied a cork sticker from office hours in seafoam in the middle of the spiral, then I chose a seafoam core kit date card with the same design because I loved the way they complimented each other in terms of design + coloring. I also used that date card to write in a few things about the week to eliminate some of the white space. I used the "at the moment" card to document March's bests, which I did for both January and FebruaryPhoto breakdown: phone photos: 7 // canon t3 photos: 4 // polaroid photos: 0. Taken by me, the self-timer, and shutter remotes.Materials, supplies, and tools I used: seafoam core kitdesign A pocket pages, less is more stamps, studio calico office hours monthly kit (cork circle sticker, navy thickers, navy label, play all day & at the moment card), 3"x4" grid card, tiny attacher, transparency card from two peasfiskars corner rounderfiskars paper trimmerstaz-on jet black inkhp everyday photo papersmash date stampzig writer for vellum marker in black (on photos), zig writer marker in black (on journal cards).

March 9, 2014

project life 2014 // week nine.

Dated: February 24 - March 2. Week nine was a good one. What I did this week: This week my aunt and cousin from England were staying with us so there was a lot of family time at night. At work, I'm always noticing changes in Max, and this week he was particularly affectionate, which really just warms my heart. I joined a new gym on Friday morning and then went on a little date night with my best friend, Meagan on Friday night. I had the most incredible lemon poppyseed muffin for breakfast on Wednesday - things were gooooooood.About this spread: I had a LOT of pictures that I wanted to use this week. Inevitably some were cut, but instead of seven 4x6 photos, I used eight and stamped the dates on a photo rather than a date card. Other than that, I was minimal. I only used seafoam (the kit and the color) cards in the 3x4 pockets, and only one stamp, which isn't like me, but it works.Thoughts, concerns + details: I like the way the middle row looks with all of the seafoam kit's greeny blue cards. I used the "for the record" card to write down February's best moments, the same as I did for the last week of January, and two of the other cards were for mini stories that didn't fit on the photos they went with. I like the way that this spread meshes (at least in my mind, ha!) and am definitely planning on doing it more like this every so often in the future.Photo breakdown: phone photos: 9 // canon t3 photos: 3 // polaroid photos: 0. project life // week five.

Dated: January 27 - February 2. This is the fifth week of project life and I'm still so happy to sit down and document the little things in life every week. What I did this week: Back to work after California, which was brutal in terms of weather. It snowed while we were gone twice and the climate change really hit me hard. I mentioned this last week as well, but I'm so moving to California, and I feel the urge growing more and more every single day. I started a new project, which will be up on the blog in the first week of March, and I took a photo shoot of my puppy, Lucas. I also made grapefruit margaritas for a girls' night out; recipe will be up soon!About this spread: I went back to using just the design A pages for this week, but I love the look of last week's spread with a bit of variation, so I am considering trying another 12x12 design in the future. This is a pretty basic, everyday moments type of spread, which I kept simple with only a few embellishments and some journaling.Thoughts, concerns + details: I decided that since it is the end of the month that I would record January's best moments (see below). I liked doing this because I feel like it made me truly reflect on the month and include a few things about January that may not have appeared in the album. I also used a polaroid this week of me and my best friend, Meagan, and used a five w's card from the seafoam kit to journal about the photo in a different way. I used a studio pebbles card and journaled around it's edge a little bit more to spruce it up, and as usual, journaled right on photos (with an amazing new marker; listed below).
Photo breakdown : phone photos: 8 // canon t3 photos: 3 // polaroid photos: 1. Taken by me and the self-timer.
