pink grapefruit margaritas.

I've really been slacking with my pinterest to-do lists, but it's been because I've been so busy with other things, so at least busy is good. On my cocktails to-do list, I had this recipe for a grapefruit margarita and I have been dying to make a batch because I love grapefruit and tequila is my girlfriend when it comes to the best tasting drinks I've made in the past.I adapted the recipe slightly as well as doubled it to make a nice sized pitcher and used:
// 2 cups gold tequila
// 2 cups triple sec
// 3 cups ruby red grapefruit juice
// the juice from 8 limes (about a cup)
// 4 cups of ice
--------------------------------------------
// ground sea salt (optional, for the glass rims)
// lime wedges (optional, for garnish)I mixed everything together in a blender and then poured it all into a pitcher with additional ice. It was refrigerated for about an hour before served, and I find this step essential because a luke warm margarita is nowhere near as quality as an ice cold one. If you don't have time to chill it before you serve it, use a ton of ice in the glasses. These were absolutely delicious and in my opinion so much better than a plain old lime margarita. #newfavorite.

apple cider sangria.

I am such a fall lover. I am obsessed with scarves and snuggling and pumpkin everything. Another love of mine for sure is spiced apple cider. Instead of drinking it plain though, I much prefer something with a little kick that will give me that fresh appley taste - enter sangria recipe.This is so simple to make, it involves a little bit of chopping and a little bit of pouring, so nothing crazy. You could make this right before you leave to go to a party as long as you do give it an hour of so in the fridge to give the apples some time to soak everything up, though that's not a major step. And if you're anything like me, you'll probably have most of this stuff around the house so it doesn't involve too much shopping.// 4-6 apples (I used gala because they were on hand, but any type of red apple does the job)
// 1 cup club soda
// 3 cups fresh apple cider
// 1 bottle pinot grigio (or any white really)
// 1/2 cup cognac or brandy (for the kick)1// chop up the apples and fill the bottom third or so of your pitcher.
2// add all of the liquid ingredients in no particular order.
3// stir well and leave in the fridge for about an hour before serving to let the apples soak if you have the time.

Nothing like the fresh taste of apples to get fall feelings rolling. Yum.

pinterest to-do list // drinks & cocktails.

Even though I haven't finished my first pinterest to-do list, I decided I would start another one from my cocktails board to work on simultaneously so that I have a variety of tasks at hand. This one is going to be all about the art of the cocktail. Actually, that's a lie. None of these are that intense, but they all really appeal to my taste so I'm hoping that at least one of these will end up being a go-to.

1// pomegranate lime white wine spritzer. There's just nothing about this name that I don't like. White wine is my preferred choice, I put limes in everything, and pomegranate is delish.
2// strawberry sangria. I love strawberries and I love sangria. I'm seeing a pattern in my reasoning already.
3// raspberry beer cocktail. Well, for this one, I do love raspberry, don't like beer as much. However, I had a beer cocktail for one of my college housemate's birthdays and it was really good, so I'm thinking we revisit it.
4// pink grapefruit margaritas. Margaritas are one of my go-to's because I love tequila, so changing it up with pink grapefruit should be amazing.
5// sparkling white peach sangria. White wine, peaches & bubbles? Mmmmm.
6// strawberry coconut margarita. Another delicious sounding take on a classic marg.
7// apple cider sangria. I'll have to do this one just in time for fall!
8// sparkling grapefruit cocktail. Have I mentioned I love grapefruit and drinks with bubbles?
9// raspberry mango sangria. Raspberry, mango, white wine...you get the idea.
10// strawberry lemonade. This is the only list item without alcohol, so by the end of this I will either love that it isn't a cocktail, or I'll be adding rum to it to get it on the level of the other guys. We shall see.

So a run down: strawberries, good; raspberries, good; grapefruit, good; white wine, good; bubbles, goooood.

See my progress here.
