I've been listening to a ton of new music lately, especially country, since NY just got a country station! I've never been obsessed with country music but I am well on my way. But I digress. Phillip Phillips is my latest music crush, and I'm a little slow on the uptake because I typically don't watch American Idol, however, when the Olympics were on this summer, I was obsessed with Team USA's theme song, which was Phillip Phillips' 'Home'. So from there I spotify'd him, and fell in love with his smooth, raspy voice and his lyrics. And he's also like really super cute.
Phillip Phillips won AI in May 2012 and immediately 'Home' was released. Months later his album was released and debuted at number 4 in the Billboard 200. His only single on the radio so far is 'Home', but I'm feelin' pretty confident that it's just a matter of time until this little cutie steals everyone else's hearts as well. Phillip sounds like a mix between a couple of artist I like, including Jack McManus and Gary Go, but also has a little bit of a DMB vibe going on. This album is fourteen amazing songs, plus a live version of 'Home' and a cover of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller', which sounds great put to his style. So in conclusion, the album is amazing, Phillip is amazing, and you buying the album will be an amazing experience. Point stressed I think.
The song I chose to highlight in my post is called Gone, Gone, Gone. I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it, and for some reason I just love the sound of it and the lyrics and his voice sounds especially sexy. So enough said. Listen to it. Love it. Go.
